Wrapping up the 'Gita:'

The three Gunas
(Parts or principles of the soul)

1. Sattra: Light (Reason/ Enlightenment/ Understanding)
2. Rajas: Fire (Passion/ Desire/ Restless ambition; the pursuit of worldly riches or power)
3. Tamas: Darkness (Lethargy/ Sloth/ Ignorance)

Spiritual goals attained through pursuing them in a non-attached way.

THE UPANISHADS

Katha- Nachiketa, the son of a Bramin, goes to the King of Death's home and waits three nights before the king arrives. Because he was forced to wait, the king offers him one 'boon' for each night he waited. These were Nachiketa's wishes.

1. He asked for his father's forgiveness and the quelling of his anger.
2. He wished to learn the practice of the fire sacrifice.
3. He wished to know the secret of immortality.

-*Death is 'bad' only in that it ultimately brings you back to the world of suffering, but is not evil
