Main Ideas
*First idea of Brahman, all seeing all being god
*Idea of renunciation and karma- Path of renunciation(Hinduism) and path of desire(western culture/American)
*more emphasis on mental being, meditation and solitude in order to find the mystical knowledge
Yogas- Spiritual disciplines, and the paths to MOKSHA (liberation from SAMSARA, or life cycle)
*Yoga is designed to shrink the ego, to realize the true self within
1) Jnana- liberation through Knowledge obtained through study and meditation; Goal is to find mystical knowledge of Brahman; belief that everything is one
2) Karma- liberation through Work; idea that performing acts through detachment, or without desire, liberates; 2 kinds of karma: hot (bad) doing work to achieve self goals and cool (good) which is doing work because its your duty
3) Bhakti- Liberation through Devotion; idea is to lose yourself to god
4) Raja- Liberation through meditation and silence
