"Ontological Argument" coined by Kant.
What does Aselm mean by "greatest"? (p.167)
-Most perfect
-Most real
-Best (These last two don't work because they are value judgments.)
-Something you like the most

Anselm's latter of being -
God - "most real" (has all power, knowledge, and goodness)
Souls/Angels - (eternal, some knowledge, power, and goodness)
Physical - (not eternal, no knowledge)
Shadows/Reflections - "least real" (dependent on the physical)

Great making properties -
Omnipresence = size
Omnipotence = power
Omniscience = knowledge
Omnibenevolence = goodness

Criticisms
-Perfect Island objection by Guanilon. (See Handout)
An argument that proves everything proves nothing. Anselm's argument proves obviously false things.

Hume
Can't use definitions of concepts to prove things about reality.
1. Relationship of Ideas - a priori (apart from experience)
2. Matter of fact and existence - a posteriori (by experience/obsevation)

Kant
Existence is not a property. (pedicate)
