Deontology (Kant)- Morality is independent of consequences.(motive is what is important not consequence)
If you think about something long enough you will make the right decision. if you get the wrong result, you didn't think about it long enough.
Reason will answer all of your moral questions and give you the right decision. (nazis could not have been right, because they were thinking irrationally)

Criticism: Kant underestimates the influence of culture on moral beliefs.

Moral action- reason winning out over selfish desire.

Hypothetical imperatives don't apply to you if you don't have a relevant desire.

(follow the principal I'm acting on)
Utilitarianism- Maximize happiness
Kant-maximize morality

If everyone stole there would be no concept of property so stealing would not be possible and no body would gain anything from taking it.
-If every one murdered everyone would be dead, except for one person, and there would be no such thing as murder.
-if every on broke promises no one would except promises
