I don't know about everyone else but I'm having a hard time understanding the whole concept of realism, and everything else talked about in class. The only topic that i understand is Egoism. Now that makes sense, why wouldn't everyone be out for themselves. i know that everyone i know put themselves above other people. I don't think this is because they are selfish people but why would you want to hurt yourself emotionally in favor of helping others. I know this from experience. i used to be the first one there handing money out to the homeless, letting people stay with me, or even feeding others. i did this because when i was in the same position others helped me so i wanted to return the favor. This worked for a while until people started using me. I know that not all people do use others that try to help them but the majority of the people that i helped turned around and used me causing emotional strain on not me but my family as well. This is why i now believe that people are out for their own self-interest before they ever look out for others.
