If you read the class books and articles, I hope you see there is nothing blissful about our situation. Shorter life expectancies, hunger, poverty, murder, shame, exploitation, no insurance... bliss???? I think not.

I believe we have a false consciousness as well as a cultural upbringing to not go against the grain of society. Our nation's economic and social problems are so skewed that it will take a whole governmental overhaul to bring equality and justice to the majority of our nation.

Ignorance is not bliss in America... it is unnecessary suffering and exploitation.
