Ferguson, Chapter 32
1. Who are "white ethnics"? Why have
some white ethnics sought to retain their
ethnic identity? Is this likely to be
successful or not?

First I'll start off by saying that white
ethnics are white people that come from
such places as Ireland, Norway,
Switzerland, Poland, Germany, etc. They
come from another area, but are still
considered white. Now I don't know the
"text book" reason why they seek to retain
their ethnic identity, but I know why I do.
I'm part 1/4 English, 1/4 Norwegian, part
Scottish, and part French. (And I think
Welsh.) The one I'm most proud of is the
Norwegian. I have wall plates that were
painted long ago in Norway and I love to
display them to show off my heritage. It
just makes me feel cool and unique. I
mean, not EVERYBODY can say they
have norwegian blood in their veins.
That's what helps me say that I'm
different. I'm also pretty proud of my
Scottish roots. My maiden name is
McKirdy.

Is this likely to be successful or not?
Hmmm... maybe I don't understand the
question. Now that I think about it, do they
say that people retain their ethnic identity
for political reasons?

Somebody, anybody, please help me out
