If the campus has enough money to be constructing all these new buildings on campus, why don't they have enough money to keep all their employees/programs, and pay all employees reasonably? How could the LCC administration have double budgeted so terribly?
Why isn't the LCC administration taking responsibility for having double budgeted? The administration should have to make up the monetary difference for having double budgeted. The administration ought to ask sponsers and donors of LCC to pay for the administration's mistake, or something. Maybe the government can bail them out! The instructors shouldn't have to pay for the administration's mistakes by getting pay cuts, forgoing raises and bonuses, or being fired because of the administrations terrible budgeting mistakes! And programs shouldn't be cut either to compensate!!! I think that LCC is handling this all wrong. I wonder whether the new president of LCC is getting a lot or negative flak for all this mess, and I wonder if LCC is going to have to stop construction on the new buildings on campus and leave them only half built until they have enough money to finish building them. If their is any money set aside for these new buildings, it needs to go to the instructors now first before going into the completion of the buildings. I'd rather have good quailty instructors who are treated and paid reasonably and keep the many good programs which are in danger of being cut, or already have been, then having a few new buildings.
I have been enjoying and appreciating the new buildings. I've been marveling at how the new buildings complement and enhance the old buildings so well. The new buildings makes me like the character, longevity, wisdom, and weathering of the old buildings while the old buildings are helping me appreciate the asthetic newness, increased space, upgraded facilities, and more modern designs and styles.
I wish for the new buildings to be filled with valuable instructors and programs though. I hope that LCC finds a good way to handle this mess soon. It would be nice for the instructors to be able to again focus more time on instructing classes and on themselves and their families than on going to lengthy meeting after meeting at LCC in attempts to settle this whole mess. I wish the best of luck to all the instructors and to all the students who are being effected by this mess.
