Some jobs are better than others. Of course we need the garbage to be picked up and the public toilets to be cleaned (and the ones at home as well, but that's a personal issue). Each job in the division of labor requires varied talent, skill, and education. Who is to say which jobs are better than others? While a high-profile corporate position may bring happiness through money and a large desk, a garbage collector could be happy basking in his early morning hours and available vacation days. It is hard to say which jobs are better since it could be that some people are just better suited for particular work positions. Besides, a job that is considered great by the majority could make a person truly unhappy. A high earning job could mean long hours away from family, hobbies, and the comforts of home. Everything in life relies on personal values and priorities.

I am of the mind to think that if someone does not like their job, they will do what it takes to move up. Of course the wealthy who own media and business convince the poor of otherwise. It is the "false consciousness" [pp.240] of the oppressed that causes them to stay where they are on the social ladder.
