"Most good jobs require a college degree, but the poor cannot afford to send their children to college." I am a recent single parent who happens to currently fall in the "temporarily poor" category. I believe that there is enough financial aid out there, that there is no reason why anyone who wants to can't attend college.

"The poor also are trapped because they get sick more often and stay sick longer than do the more well-to-do. The reasons, of course, are that they cannot afford preventive medicine, proper diets, and proper medical attention when ill." I also fall into this category as I receive just enough money to get by on but just enough that I don't qualify for medical help and yet when my children get sick do I make them suffer or take them to the doctor? Take them of course.

So, does this mean I agree that they are at fault for the situation they are in? No it doesn't, just the opposite is true in fact. The difference between me and them is that I grew up in a household where I was taught there were opportunities out there and they don't know any different. I do believe class, is dictated by the higher ups. I do believe that society sets us up to fail and who we become in large part has to do with where we came from. The social classes given to us at birth are just that, given to us, we didn't choose them, however someone did and I bet that someone has a silver spoon in their mouth! After all, they do need someone to wait on them.
