1) I have to choose my job as a specific role that I currently occupy. I am a manager in a million dollar restaurant chain.
2) Internalization of Norms: I have been trained by both my family and my bosses that following the rules and being a leader can possess huge rewards. I'm encouraged to set high standards for the employees that I work with. I'm also encouraged to use praise and discipline to accomplish goals within the team. These have always been a constant within my life, growing up you learn that to succeed you must give more than one hundred percent to everything you do in life. My employers also feel that this is a necessity in a management position.
Social Rewards: People have respect for me, but not always the job I do. I am seen as a leader and a person who is knowledgeable. Status, responsibility, and leadership would probably be the greatest social rewards.
Sanctions: The threat of losing my job. The idea of not being respected by my team members. The possibility of being frowned upon by my superiors are huge sanctions, which keep me feeling the need to follow the accepted norms.
