1. After thinking about all the positions that I hold in my life, there are so many to choose from and too many to list. From Husband to friend, employee to co-worker, American citizen to member of my parish. It was very difficult to figure which one I could write about. So I guess I will write about being a Husband and best friend.
2. a. Internalization of Norms: This begins from the moment you are committed to another person. If you are raised in a religious type lifestyle, you are taught to be committed to one person and only that one person. There will be no having affairs, or holding another household. By being committed to only one person, you can have not only a companion, lover, and what ever else you and your partner do together, you can impart that norm onto your children.

b. Social rewards: The sky is endless for obeying the norms. The biggest is peace in the household. When the norms are broken, there can be tension between the partners and if not solvable it can lead to a broken commitment, and then the fireworks really begin.

c. Sanctions or threat of sanctions: There are an endless number of sanctions you can receive for this. From sleeping on the couch, (the old-fashioned way) to removal of privileges, to being asked to leave the house and the relationship. Each relationship is going to be different in how it deals with the consequences of breaking the roles of norms.
