I would have to choose my hobby/habbit/addiction if you will of using a computer. I can't go anywhere without one, and when I am away from one I feel severly limited, but sometimes relief. Ever since I was a child I have been around computers, since the day my father set me down in front of a computer at the age of 5 and logged me into a BBS showing me there were people out there I could talk to, up through elementary school, middle school, and high school. All of these places had computers and they were always being encouraged as a usable tool. I remember sitting for hours in elementary school pounding out the keys on an old style apple, playing text adventures or typing stories for class. It was exciting, and it compelled me to learn more. I quit for a long while, most of my middle years but quickly got back into it as soon as I entered HS and met friends who were into BBSing like so long ago. Things had changed, and I had to spend my time 'tweaking' systems and software to get it to run. I can't say media played any big part, because Macintosh was in the lead for advertisements and I have always pretty well despised them. Using media in the sense of friends or social word of mouth, it was a major push for me to get back into computers. Without it I probably wouldn't be using a computer as much as I do today. (hahaha yeah right...)
