Nietzsche’s prediction: As science explains more, Faith is needed less and will then decrease (eventually to nothing)

If you look at America now being technologically advanced religion is still well and strong

Europe-secular
Mid East—religious fervor
Asia—very religious even post Mow they still are
Africa—very religious with great variety in dominations

Nietzsche believed: There are masters and slaves

Slaves need god. Created god and morality to deal with strong oppressors

Rosenstand says Nietzsche says—we create our own values.
BUT Nietzsche puts forward values and derives them from human nature and the will to power.

MASTERS MORALITY versus SLAVE MORALITY

MASTERS MORALITY: SLAVES MORALITY:
Virtues: physical strength, came from peasant rabble-Nietzsche
vitality, courage, intelligence, The idea of equality arises because
creativity, individuality, truthfulness, none of them can override the
callousness, pride others (you must get along with x other slaves)
Virtue: Weakness,
Cowardice, stupidity,
gullibility, mediocrity,
humility, live in a fantasy world


God answered prayer, last
Judgment, self deception, pity,
Compassion

Nietzsche: criticized for raising callousness to a virtue.

These are Nietzsche’s beliefs that self-deception and a fantasy world are part of religion and belief in god
Ecce Homo: “Behold the man” by Nietzsche later years when mania started to take over but still with good points. (Brought up to explain that Nietzsche saw self as a master).

Nietzsche concept: The will to power—the principle of life itself—to grow and dominate one’s environment to flourish, be successful.

Nietzsche compares: Hawks = (masters) are the predators
Lambs = (slaves) are the prey

Without prey, predators would be out of luck, (there is a strange dependency)
