Identify some aspect of U.S. culture and give both idealist and materialists explanations for it.
I have a hard time determine a difference of the two in U.S. culture. Idealist: The practice of envisioning things in an ideal form. The theory of things in themselves consist of ideas. Materialist: Excessive regard to worldly concerns.

How can I look at world events of today and not combine the two concepts. We are at war due to ideas of U.S. culture being violated, it is the ideas of U.S. culture to be at war because we were violated.

I say we are at war in the name of freedom, democracy and "The American Way" was violated.

We are stronger, have more money, power and the ability to enilate the Afghanistan people. So tell me what the difference be it right or wrong is the difference.

I must add I support everything that America is doing right now. I not unlike the India's believe in our county, our values, our beliefs and our freedom because that is how I was raised. Is that idealistic or materialistic I don't know.

2: Which approach do you think offers the best explanation? I believe I've already addressed this question.
