My parents were visiting this weekend and we took them to two social events. While at one of the events, I refused to introduce them to anyone. When new people would come up, I would just start visiting as if my Mom wasn't standing there. Eventually, she would introduce herself or the person would introduce themselves. After a bit I started to hear comments like, "excuse my rude daughter, but my name is Dru" or "gosh Jenn aren't you going to introduce us".

I eventually told my Mom the scoop. I thought this was a funny experiment. I think people thought I was rude. There was always that awkward moment of uneasiness as each party waited for me to make introductions. My Mom was certainly wondering what happened to my good manners. I felt uncomfortable a few times, but mostly tried to enjoy a moment away from my usual "people pleasing self" (smile).
