Dear Denise: I posted a reply to you a couple of days ago and just noticed that it never showed up!! I don'tknow why. Anyways, I just wrote this new reply for you.
I liked how you theoretically supported the Conflict Paradigm by saying: (Theoretically the order paradigm is inferior because it basis it's theory on society being equal. When cooperation and unity cannot be reach conflict begins.)
I think that it's true that conflict is bound to happen when members of society are treated unequally if two or more differing parties cannot settle their differences peaceably with cooperation and unity. For instance, the abolishment of slavery and segregation. To get slavery and segregation abolished many brave men and women had to take a stand and let the system know that slavery and segregation are not OK with society. When people stand up in this manner to right a wrong in the society which is perpetuated in the system of the society I see the people
in the society who take the stand to be good brave people
taking responsibility for their lives and well being,
and for the furtherment of our
humane existence of all humans here
on Earth.
Somehow the word conflict doesn't seem to define taking a stand to me. I see conflict as more temporary, trivial, and unnecessary, like an unwillingness to peaceably solve an argument maturely or something. I do think that people many many times do have to stand up and take a stand when they're being wronged. If this is truly considered the definition of conflict, than I agree, conflict is an absolute necessity of life, and probably more important than order in the way that, I would much rather keep taking stands and working towards true equality and humane well being and well living for everyone here on Earth,than I would like to just go along with order blindly and ignorantly with a system appearing
orderly and good which is really bad;is a lie or wrong or bad for humanity. I just don't like the potential pain, danger, or
destruction of conflict. I'd rather settle things peaceably and orderly. I don't want to support a
falsely orderly society though which is unequal bad or wrong.
I think we should all learn to live more as collective local communities joined together well
rather than as a
hierarchy, pyramid society. Capitalism and democracy are different now than they used to be.
I guess I have a tendency to think that Capitalism and democracy together making the system we have here in the U.S. is the best system we know of and even though our U.S. system is not as great as it used to be or might have been, it's better than any of the alternative systems the people of our world have come up with and implemented so far. I respect our system for the good it is and I also respect the need for our system to make necessary changes as sp
oken by our society. I think that our society and our system need to work together well for the good of each and every person in the U.S. and the world. This is because the system's not going away anytime soon, nor are
the people of society. So, I think we'd better all just learn to get along well.
