Section C Homework,

1.) I feel the conflict paradigm is more insightful than the order paradigm.

2.)Strengths of the Conflict Paradigm

a. This model seems to work better because it seems our society is saturated with violence. There is unequal distribution of power in our society. It also seems as though those with the power keep the ones underneath them without power. I don't see how people could live in order when there is so much inequality.

b. History shows us that the conflict model has had more effect on society than the order model. Take for example all the conflict mentioned in Chapter 3 between groups. Without conflict Native Americans, farmers and minorities would not have achieved change.

3.)Weaknesses of Conflict Paradigm

a. The conflict paradigm can be weak because it sounds too harsh. I think the majority of society would like to believe that working hard and playing fair is what achieves change.

b.) History shows again that the conflict paradigm does not always to help society. Take for example the Native Americans who fought so hard only to be defeated. Still today many people hold protests and use violence without positive consequences.

4.) I don't believe solely in the conflict paradigm. I think society takes from both the order and the conflict models.
