Good subject. I was 18 when I got pregnant. I was 19 when I had my daughter and now I am 20. I think that a lot of young women that get pregnant are well, stupid, and I can say that cuz I am one of them. I don't say stupid to be mean....but... I knew what could happen to me, but I guess I didn't care. I knew I would be able to handle being a mom if I got pregnant, I just never knew that my boyfriend, who I loved so much and I thought loved me back so much, would turn abusive once I refused to get an abortion. I went through pregnancy without the father, which was really tough. It's not the same having your mother or brother feel the baby kick, or hold your hand when you are in labor. I have a lot of help raising her, family and friends. Oh yeah, I dumped my boyfriend when I was four months pregnant and got a restraining order against him. Anyways, even if we found out exactly why young women get pregnant, I don't know what could be done to stop it. There is already free birth control and all that. I wish I could make young women like me truely understand the many difficulties that goes along with starting a family at this age because it sure is hard sometimes.
