Sorry about this posting. I finally figured out how to get this back under my name. I have had many difficulties with this posting. It was listed under Wanda's name, but it was actually mine. I accidentally posted it under the wrong name, due to a password error. Here it goes:

This is my third attempt at this homework assignment. The first time it was erased , the second time it posted under the wrong name.

A) My research question would be: How do judgements and assumptions become part of a person's daily life?

B) The research method I would choose would be observation. I would also choose to use survey research and existing data to support my findings. I think observation would give me more accurate research. The observations would have to be long term and they would help document my findings. The material would be very observable as well. Being that the research would be so long I would need to support it with surveys in order to get answers from groups I couldn't observe. The use of existing data would help me research times when I wasn't present, in order to have an overall study.

C) I would determine how long my study would last. I would also need to determine how many groups I would observe. The groups would need to be families, hopefully with young children that I could observe for their life span or into adulthood. I would also like to view their relationships with extended family members and their peer groups. These families would need to be from different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. I would supplement my observations with surveys and interpreting existing data to see correlations when I can't directly observe.

D) The ethical issues would include the use of families who closely mirror my own personal background, the exclusion of a cultural group, and families which are similar to each other. I would need to study groups with different status, background, culture, and education. I would also need to stay very neutral. By using many observers I could have different perspectives. I would have to remember that observation is open to interpretation. This is why I would have to use surveys as well as existing data.
