My social question is simply this:

Why is sex and violence on television accepted today, and is it harming our children?

I would definitely choose observation as my research method. The reason that I would choose this method is to get a good look at the effects it has on small children.

I would observe 4 and 5 year olds from various backgrounds. I would look at how children interact in private schools, public schools, military schools and children who are home schooled. I would also divide them up into groups ~ ones who are exposed to television and ones who are not.

Ethical issues that I might confront would include; race, religion and financial status. One way to avoid these issues would be to cluster them all together and not separate them based on the above.
