Selection
Members of SLI Leadership Team and self-selected interested faculty and staff.
Chair
The chair position will be assigned for a two year term to a willing member of
the ITI team. The ITI team will decide by consensus who among the willing
members will serve as chair. If consensus cannot be reached, the most senior
among the candidates will receive the position.
Term
2003 - 2005 academic years.
Purpose
Plan and implement facilities and procedures to provide services to faculty and
staff who want to use learning environment technology, including the Internet,
to engage students.

• Existence of an up to date inventory of hardware, software, people, network facilities, and teaching methodologies used in learning environments. |
|
To identify and help meet the needs of faculty who are working with instructional technology systems, including online and classroom uses. |
|
• Ability to provide materials, training, examples, support, and consulting assistance to interested faculty. |
|
To identify and remove barriers to the initiation and development of learning environment technology projects, and to actively support such projects |
|
|
|
To coordinate and support the activities of the faculty webmasters in meeting the on-going support needs of faculty who use learning environment technology. |
|
• Support services are available to faculty who inquire; introduction to facilities and services is provided; necessary equipment and software is available and reliable; webmasters knowledge remains current in instructional technology advances. |
|
To identify and advocate the institutional commitment needed to foster faculty development of learning environment technology projects. |
|
• On-going support for learning environment projects and plans and budget and procedures are in place to support these activities. |
Scope

IN: Learning environment technology initiatives.
IN: Use existing facilities, services and support to the
extent possible.
IN: Identify and advocate for new technologies,
facilities, and processes to advance the use of technologies in the learning
environment.
OUT: Administrative computing, except as it intersects
with information needs of faculty for curriculum development and online
instruction.
OUT: Add to the proliferation of technology groups on
campus.
Implications
for other groups
Need to coordinate activities with CCIL,
TACT, Computer services, Instructional Computing, Faculty Professional
Development, Distance Learning, Experimental Classroom and other campus groups.
