I had the rewarding opportunity to meet Chere a number of years ago when she was a student at Lane Community College and worked for me in the Social Science Computer Lab. Since that time I have come to know Chere as a friend and am truly excited about her decision to go into a career in marriage and family therapy. \par \par }\pard\plain \s15\widctlpar\aspalpha\aspnum\faauto\adjustright\rin0\lin0\itap0 \fs22\lang1033\cgrid {In the past, I have witnessed Chere during interactions wi th her peers. I have been a public school and community college instructor for the last fifteen years, and I must say, that Chere\rquote s patience, ability to actively listen, and then thoughtfully engage other students in meaningful discussion is admirable. I often wish that all of my instructor colleagues possessed a similar temperament and caring personality. \par }\pard\plain \widctlpar\aspalpha\aspnum\faauto\adjustright\rin0\lin0\itap0 \f12\lang1033\cgrid {\f0\fs22 \par I was certainly pleased that when Chere had completed her community college coursework, she moved onward and upward to attain her bachelor\rquote s degree. Even though Chere did not take any of my history courses at Lane Community College, I had always believed that her maturity and intellectual abilities were greater than those of most students I\rquote ve worked with and taught. This fact is obvious when you cons ider her academic achievements, including both the degree and attaining Spanish language proficiency. I might add that these accomplishments took place while Chere worked a number of other jobs as well. \par \par Chere exhibits a sense of responsibility not commo n enough in this day and age. She is a very self-motivated person, and consistently challenges herself to meet her maximum potential. By both her own initiative and the appreciation of her past supervisors, she is always acknowledged as someone who can g et the job done. Chere\rquote s genuine desire to succeed will make her among the most exemplary candidates for future excellence. \par \par Chere has excellent \ldblquote people\rdblquote skills. Her ability to make others feel welcome and comfortable is encouraging and commendable. She i s conscientious about her own performance, yet is thoughtful in dealing with others. Chere is also very exciting to work with because she will ask pertinent questions when she needs to know something or have a concept clarified. I never left a conversat ion with her feeling that the time or discussion had been without purpose. \par \par I consider Chere to be a prime candidate for success in her graduate education. I am especially excited to see her put those skills to work as a marriage and family therapy couns elor. I not only recommend her for admission to your program without any reservation, but I believe her to be a }{\i\f0\fs22 preferred}{\f0\fs22 candidate for your consideration. If approved as an applicant, Chere Myers will be a credit to your program, and one day, you\rquote ll be proud to say that \ldblquote she was one of ours\rdblquote . \par \par Sincerely, \par \par \par \par \par Joseph G.
