Beth,

I honestly can't say what the odds are for adopting Moodle 1.6, because the decision is solely a technical one (namely, will Moodle 1.6 be sufficiently compatible with all of the modules that we need that we can use it?). My time for the next couple of weeks will be taken up by the project to upgrade the College's web server, but after that, I will be working on Moodle for the rest of the Summer, and will hope to have a decision on which version to use by mid-August (it's later than I wanted, but I'm not sure if we'll be ready to decide before that). I will say that my own preferences are to go with 1.6, because I think it has some features we'll find very useful.

I appreciate your willingness to express your preferences to Stephen, but the decision doesn't really involve him (since there's no cost associated with the new version). But I also appreciate knowing your preferences; since we have to evaluate which version to use based on the modules it supports, it's good to know which ones people are using and which ones they think are important.

David

Hi David-

I've been doing a lot of work converting my classes from WebCT to Moodle. There are several very effective learning activities (like anonymous surveys) I have done for the 6 years I used WebCT that I can't do with the current version of Moodle and I'm very disappointed. It sounds as if one of the "can't dos" is available with version 1.6. Joe told me it's a possibility we could convert to that version before fall term. What's your educated guess as to the odds of that happening?

Would it help if I sent an email like this to Steve Pruch?

Thanks for all you're doing to smooth this conversion.

Beth
