Okay - HOW do I create the meta - course?  This is something I can't remember being told how to do!

Yes Judy,
It is possible to create a metacourse and assign EACH of the 3 "real" Banner sections as "child courses" of that course.  That is a great idea and the BEST place to add the "My Files" block.  Adding it to EACH of the three courses would be confusing, some students posting their work to one section, others to another, still others to a third.  If you ONLY had the My Files block appear in the metacourse, there would be no mistaking where students would put/share their files.
Great idea.

As for the student training piece, you may inquire at the student help desk (shed@lanecc.edu) and see if they are offering services like that... classroom visits to train students how to upload files to the My Files block in Moodle.

For our Learning Community for the First Year Experience, how do we create a meta-course that links the pages for all three of our classes, so that students can find the shared assignments on the meta-course page?   We'll need to do two of these, as there are two seperate "tracks" for the first year experience this term.

For my Effective Learning class, I would like to try to arrange for someone to come show the students how to upload files they've created for their portfolio using the Moodle My-Files module.  I'd like to arrange this for October 17th, as I am out having surgery that week, and my substitute doesn't feel competent to train the students in this and would like the training herself.  Is that possible?   My class meets from 10:30 - 11:50 in 19/232 - so I guess we'd also need to find a computer lab where students could work on this that day.  How would we do that?
