Hi, Joe. Thanks for the information. This is really unfortunate. I use =
about a dozen quiz questions on each secure midterm exam, so the students n=
eed to know the correct answers to all quiz questions. =20
I have a couple of potential solutions to the problem. One is to post a=
ll correct answers in the WebCT Discussion function. I know, however, that=
many students don't bother with WebCT, even though I insist that everyone =
use it. I'll do this at least for Quiz 1, which has already passed. I wou=
ld not be willing to post correct answers to the secure midterms, however. =
A second potential solution is to switch now to Moodle testing. As you kn=
ow, I have all my test files in Aiken format (thanks again). I have not, h=
owever, done anything with the files you sent back to me, since I normally =
would not use them until winter term 2007, and I have been busy with other =
work. Would you be willing to help me set up the rest of the quizzes (2-7)=
and midterm exams (1-3) in Moodle over the next few days? Your help would=
definitely speed things up, and I would be sure to have it right, without =
a lot of fumbling around. I would need to bring in the appropriate test fi=
les (Aiken), make a new menu and get rid of the TestPilot menu, set up the =
quizzes and exams, make sure students can retrieve quiz answers, make sure =
students can take secure midterms in the Science Resource Center, and so on=
. =20
If you have other potential solutions that would help our class, I would=
 really appreciate hearing them. Thanks.
Greg Miles.

Greg,

You are the second to report this problem this Summer.

This "glitch" started happening this past year and we were unable to track =
down the problem and neither was the TestPilot software group (who was "bou=
ght out" by McGraw Hill a year or so ago). This was one of the reasons why=
we are "leaving" TestPilot, along with LCC budget cuts and a need to strea=
mline offerings.

All I can say to you is that yes. each student "took" the quiz and the appr=
opriate score (only) shows. However, you are unable to see their actual qu=
iz itself. The range of instructional problems this presents is wide. If=
you just need the scores, you are set. If you or the students need to act=
ually "see" these quizzes, then you are in trouble.

I wish I could be of more help.

I am teaching the Oceanography telecourse (GS 147, CRN 10375) this term, an=
d have given Quiz 1 to the class using TestPilot. There is a problem with =
retrieving the completed Quiz 1 with the correct answers shown. This is th=
e first time in several years of using TestPilot that I have seen this, and=
I'm not sure what the problem is. I have a listing of everyone's scores (=
from the View Scores function), which is the most important thing. That fu=
nction has not been affected by the problem,
which is good.
To view the problem, go into the Oceanography quiz marked "Quiz 1 No Pas=
sword Needed", click on the View Scores link, then click the "View" link fo=
r the first person to submit the quiz (Pletchert). You will see that her q=
uiz shows normally. All other quizzes on the list, however, either have no=
information at all or they tell the student that he/she has a score of zer=
o on the quiz. The quiz and correct answers are not shown for any of these=
students. In a related matter, two students have already submitted Quiz 2=
, and the same problem is affecting that quiz as well.
I have left voicemail and email messages with Toni Timmers, who oversees=
TestPilot at LCC, concerning this problem, but I haven't heard back from h=
er. I know a lot of LCC staff are off for the summer, so I thought it woul=
d be best to send a help request to this site as well. I'm hoping that all=
TestPilot activities are backed up daily. If so, we would have a better c=
hance of retrieving any lost information. Any help would be appreciated.=
