Joe -
I'm sorry to be dense, but I have gone to Administration, Settings (several times) and I do not see where I can change a category to Summer 2006. Perhaps I'm doing this in the wrong place, I'm looking at Admin from within my class. Should I be elsewhere?

Hello Susan,

Your Coop Ed Student Online Workshop course is still in the hidden "Development" category. Login, go to the class, click SETTINGS, and change it to the Summer 2006 category. Then all will be able to see it. Classes in the hidden development category are only viewable by the course owner.

As for BT010, only the instructor (Linda) can "unenroll" you as a student. She clicks the Students link in the Admin block to do this, and removes your name from the list.

On your final paragraph, there is a significant problem I'm reading into your plan. Let me tell you was WILL happen. Knowing what little I know about coop, there may be some flexibility if you don't like our current plan.

Starting Fall Term, David Walton will have ExpressLane/Banner data create a new blank course for every CRN #, assign the appropriate instructor to that course, and add all registered students to that course. The default setting will be that the course is NOT available to students. That's the end of that process.

Next, it will be up to each instructor to decide whether to use their blank Moodle course or not. If they decide to use it, they will do 2 basic things. #1, they will take a Moodle backup of a previous term course and restore it to that blank course. #2, they will have to "turn it on" and make it available to students (via Admin Block/Settings link).

All students and instructors will login with L# and PIN. Instructors will see all of their courses they are teaching for the term. Students will see all of the classes they are taking for the term (provided the instructor has turn the class "on".)

I hope this makes sense. If so, will this work for your instructors? In essence, the only variation will be that they will take the backup zip file of your "shell" and restore it to their own (automatically created and student enrolled) blank course.

Joe

Joe - it is in the summer term area (I wrote that it's for fall in the header, but I'm working on it in the summer 2006 area) & no courses in development are visible to either me or to people just signing in.
I remember seeing that category when I first began working on it in June - but I have not been able to see the other courses in development since you first helped me restore my Career Exploration class for summer.

I signed in to B?T010 - Computer Keyboarding (Osak) just because I wanted to look at what she's doing (curiosity killed the cat...) and now I can't get rid of it. Suggestion?

Also - I talked with Andrea Newton, Coop Div Chair on Monday and she and I agreed that we would have my class "Coop Ed Student Online Workshop" as a shell. Instructors could assign their students up for that class with me as instructor of record. If they want to do their own class, then it would be invisible to students unless the instructor gave them the class number. It seems logical in theory - but I don't know how we'd number them, or how that would work in classline or in the catalog. Shall I ask Carol Woodman (Coop Administrator) to figure out the numbering, or do you want to help her do it? There could be many of them or only 2-3. We'll see, but I think it's better to plan it, than let it happen!
I'm showing the class to 4 people now - the department at inservice. They are liking it.

Yep, FTP is not exactly like Windows Explorer. Delete and reupload to the correct destination. As a PC user, I'd recommend using WinSCP. (It *may* let you drag files to their new location.)

http://teach.lanecc.edu/software/winscp382setup.exe

As for the visibility of your "courses", the Courses in Development section is invisible to all students. Therefore, to have others utilize it, move it to the Summer Term category. (I'm still working out a good way to deal with these "unofficial" courses without CRNs. I'd consider any suggestions you may have.)

Joe -
OK - thanks. I used FileZilla. But some of those files are in a directory Brouss above SITES and I don't know how to put them into a folder and put them where they belong. Is the best thing to delete them and then reFTP them? or is there an easier way?
New Question!
I have tried to sign two people on to my CE Stu Wksp and it is not visible (No courses in Development show up). I also want my Co-op Ed Supervisor's Workshop available for instructors to preveview
I have made both courses visible to studentsin the Admin - Settings area. Is there something else I should do so they show up on the list?

All accessible files in your TEACH site need to be in the directory called SITES.

Of course, you can then use your FTP program (WinSCP???) to create as many new directories as you'd like, name them appropriately, and upload files.

For example, if you created a directory inside SITES called "stuff" and put in a file called "coolfile.htm", the URL would be:
http://teach.lanecc.edu/brouss/stuff/coolfile.htm

(http://teach.lanecc.edu/brouss is actually the SITES directory itself)

Hi -
I have FTP'd a bunch of files to my teach.lanecc.edu account only they aren't exactly in the right place. How do I access those files to point to them? I also need to put some in folders so they are easy to find for different applications.
Thanks
Susan
