Enrollment data is kept separately in each child course, not in the metacourse itself, so you wouldn't be actually mixing class lists. The one thing I'm not sure about is whether, for example, students from one section would be able to interact with students from the other sections. I assume that they would; it's a question of whether that's what you're looking for. I've cc:d this to Joe so that he can chime in, as he knows far more about how metacourses work than I do.
