Thanks! These are the two WebCT courses I would like copied to Moodle for fall '06: wr122_12874_u06 wr122_30745_w06 Based on David Walton's recent email to Moodle users, I'm assuming these courses will be available for me to work on starting next week sometime (when the fall Moodle site gets updated/fixed). (I don't have the software here at home to view an online video, so written instructions are especially helpful to me right now.) I read the following info in your archived email to past Moodle instructors about "backing up and restoring" Moodle courses: *** #3 - Backup and Restore ************************ There is a new procedure for how all instructors will transfer their own Moodle courses from term to term. There is no longer a need to contact the system administrator and wait for your request to be completed. You do it when you want to, at your convenience. I'll explain briefly in the text below, but I've created another "screencast" for the visual/auditory learners at: http://teach.lanecc.edu/moodle/ called Using Moodle For SUMMER TERM 2006 - Backing up and Restoring Courses, which you may watch instead. In short, you: Backup your course to a .zip file Download that zip file to your computer Login to the new term Moodle URL Upload that zip file to your empty new term Moodle course And restore that zip file. It is an easy process which some of you may already be doing on your own. If you need more detailed instructions, be sure to watch the "screencast" movie that I've put online for you. *** Joe, these instructions seem to be geared toward folks who already have a Moodle class that they're simply copying to a new term. Does this process work equally well for instructors (like me) who want to "convert" WebCT courses into Moodle courses? I've actually never worked with zip files. Maybe I should just wait for more detailed instructions next week. What do you think? Please let me know what you think I should do. Sorry for my confusion.
