Since, as you indicated, you are basically asking the same question about access to your course that you are about access to Katie's course, I'll try to address in general terms how you can make courses or metacourses available for enrollment. The first issue is this: enrollment is controlled at the child course level, not the metacourse level. To get users enrolled in your metacourse, you have to change the settings for a child course. If you want users to enroll themselves, you'll need to go to Settings > Course enrollable and set it to Yes, and if you want to use an enrollment key, you'll need to set that on the child course as well. Same goes for somebody trying to enroll in a course: you can't enroll yourself in a metacourse; you have to go to one of the child courses to do it. The second issue is the definition of the "guest" user. Our site doesn't actually allow guests to enroll--when guest is defined as "someone who does not already have a Moodle account." We do that for reasons of privacy and security. So if you want somebody to be able to access your course, they've got to have a record in Moodle already. (More on this below.) Now, for the general question: what's the best way for you to get the people you want into your metacourse? If they are instructors (who already have Moodle accounts), then you can just make a child course enrollable (Settings > Course enrollable > Yes), set the enrollment key, and tell them which child course you've made available; the instructors can then use the search feature to search through courses for the CRN, click the course, and voila! they're in. This will work for instructors. It will NOT, however, work for students, because students can't see invisible courses (courses that are set to Not available for students). So they wouldn't be able to enroll themselves unless you made the child course available (Settings > Availability > This course is available to students), which you don't really want to do for child courses of a metacourse (because then participants in your metacourse would then see themselves as enrolled in two courses--the metacourse and the child course). The better way to do this, I think, is to just enroll these folks yourself. You can do this by going into one of your child courses and clicking Students; you can then search for the name of anyone you want to enroll, click the appropriate name in the right-hand list, and click the left-pointing arrow to add them to your course. The final complication: those folks who don't already have Moodle accounts (if any). Typically, if instructors need to give access to someone who isn't in ExpressLane and doesn't have a Moodle account, I'll set up a dummy account (typically the CRN plus the word test--e.g., 99999test) and they can then enroll that account in the class. Sorry that the answer to your question is so involved. Basically, things start to get very complicated once you start bringing in metacourses to questions of enrollment.
