Katherine,

If it's the message I'm thinking of, then what you're seeing is actually something being thrown up by your browser, not by the Moodle server.  The browser has what amounts to a timeout value that says 'if a script takes longer than X to respond, alert the user.'  You can change that value to give the script a longer time to finish before the browser throws up a warning.  Here's how to do that in Firefox:

- Open a blank new window.
- Type about:config in the address bar and hit return.
- Find the line which says "dom.max_script_run_time" and double-click it; that will bring up a dialog box that allows you to enter a new value.  The default value is 10; you might want to try something like 50.
- Click OK.
- Quit and restart Firefox.
