Folks,

Just a quick change to run by you. I'm planning to get rid of the help text that's currently in the centered topic section at the top of the main page and replace it with an HTML block with links to the same locations. That means we lose the actual URLs, but the length of the URLs themselves has a tendency to screw up the formatting of the text (and it makes the page look a little awkward). I'd like to reserve the topic section for the site title and for announcements as they become relevant. You can see what I'm thinking of if you look at the test Winter instance, at http://moodle2.lanecc.edu/winter2007.

The main reason I wanted to check with you is that I wanted to put links for both students and instructors in the HTML block--students will link to ICL's Moodle information page; instructors will link to the Moodle info page on teach. I wasn't sure if you wanted that link out on the front page (due to concerns about getting questions from students). I doubt that it will be much of an issue--since it's identified as an instructor resource--but I also don't know how much email you get from students who see stuff on the teach site, and I don't want to increase the need to filter your mail. The main reason for the instructor link is that I think it would be nice to have something on the main page we could point them to.

David
