My guess would be that when you paste a styled Word document on the PC, it includes the gibberish that Word puts in as HTML formatting (the pseudo-styles and classes), but on the Macintosh it doesn't.  That's my first guess, but it may be off base.

Can we get a copy of one of the Word documents, so we can recreate the conditions?
