How does this work when using weighted grades?

Easiest way is to create an Offline Assignment, set it for the maximum number of points possible.
Then go to Grades> Setting Categories and assign this offline assignment to an existing category. Then check the extra credit box. You will need to manually enter the points for each student. Moodle cannot automatically calculate 6% of the course and add it to the final grades.
