How can I award points for contributions to the forums? I would love to
do this automatically.

Maybe this is more of what you are looking for -
1. Go to Participants> click on the student's name
2. Choose tab 'Activity Reports' - It will show ALL activity on the site
for given student
If points are awarded for contributions to the forums the results are
visable in 'Grades'

Yes, I've been there and tried quite a few options. I have not found any
that will give me the count of posts for the last 7 days, by student. I
find many charts and long lists of posts. None I've found are any better
than manually going through every post and counting them.

Posting is used for participation points in many classes. I'm sure there
must be an efficient way to track this activity.

I need a report that will give me a count of how many new posts each
student has made in the last 7 days. Alternately, a tally of the total
number of posts, as WebCT provided, will work. Thanks,

Click the REPORTS link in your Admin Block.

There, you will have many options to choose from.

Andrea,

This is more a Moodle feature-type question, so I've forwarded it on to
the faculty webmasters.

Hi

I need to track how many posts each student makes each week in order to

assign participation points. I can't figure out how to do that without

going to each student and counting their posts. WebCT used to have a log

of number of views and posts each student had made. How do I do this

with Moodle?
