I posted this to the discussion a couple of weeks ago, but no one replied.  So, I am going to try a different avenue.  First, is there a way to incorporate point deductions as a single element in the gradebook.  The point deduction is for tasks that do not have a specific point values, but for which I deduct points if not completed. Second, how can I set up my assignments and grade book to NOT send emails to my students every time I enter information or just review something.
