If they weren't on the child course list, then something really is very odd.  I'll try to look into what happened, but at least they are OK for now.

As to the login issue: the most common problem is that the student's ExpressLane PIN is longer than six characters.  ExpressLane ignores everything they type after the first six, but nothing else does--so the student thinks that "proteozoologicometamorphosis" is their PIN, when in fact it's actually just "proteo."  The ExpressLane accepts the whole thing just fine because it discards the 'extra' characters, but Moodle doesn't, so there's a mismatch.

The second most common problem is that the student's PIN was recently changed and the import process that syncs Moodle with ExpressLane hasn't had a chance to run.  I'm guessing it was one of these two problems.
