Thanks, Joe. I've put things like that in Forums, but some disable their email address especially in my online class with a lot of discussion postings cuz they don't want a flood of email.

I'll try eliminating special characters.

Are you able to teach this term, Joe?

Beth

Yes Beth,

We are narrowing in on a solution.

First, if you need to send a message to your entire class, we still recommend using the Announcement forum, which will email the contents of that post to all students with valid email addresses. All students without valid email address (of those who don't receive the email for some reason) can still login to Moodle and read the posts.

The Participants, checkbox, send message option is best reserved for contacting groups of students, rather than all students.

BUT, as I said, here's what we now know.

Do not include special characters, like < > or even a single apostrophe in messages you send using the Participants-checkbox method. If you get the trouble/error message, then your message has some illegal character in it. David is working on a more permanent fix, but that is the best advice I can pass along to you at this time.

Joe

I've had trouble sending group messages. I show all the participants, select them all, choose to send a message, type the mesage, send it and get this:

"Something went wrong while messaging selected users. Some may have received the email."

The same thing is happening to Noy. Do you have any ideas?

Beth
