I don't have Camtasis on my computer. do I need a number or something to download a working copy. (I had a demo about a year ago.) Could I also put it on my computer at home?

I'm guessing that it would.  Have you tried it?
Set it for a full screen caption, hit record, then startup the starboard software, your PowerPoint, write on it.
Alt Tab back to Camtasia, stop record, and see if it got it.
