Joe,
So, if there are no point deductions for an individual student, then can I exclude them from that "offline assignment"? Additionally, I can hide it from the students and reveal if and when I need it? I typically do this at the end of the term after the students have completed their clinical activities (or haven't completed them).  The class I am working on is DH 120 Clinical Dental Hygiene III CRN 40168. The constant emails about grade postings are getting annoying to my students, especially if I go in multiple times to review an assignment and give feedback.

Wow Michelle,
Unique question.  I didn't think you could do that, but I just checked and you CAN.  Create an OFFLINE assignment and make it worth 1 point (since you can't use zero).  Then, if you enter a negative number in the column (Edit Grades tab), it will actually take away points from a student's total points.

As for the emails, can you give me a specific class and assignment to look at?

I posted this to the discussion a couple of weeks ago, but no one replied.  So, I am going to try a different avenue.  First, is there a way to incorporate point deductions as a single element in the gradebook.  The point deduction is for tasks that do not have a specific point values, but for which I deduct points if not completed. Second, how can I set up my assignments and grade book to NOT send emails to my students every time I enter information or just review something.
