I did as you asked.  I ended up with two copies of the Firefox icon.  Opening the one labeled 8.7MB resulted in
the "default User" is in use, choose another ... message, but there was not another to choose, so it refused to open the program.  Opening the one labeled 16.1MB gave me my same old bookmarks and the same "no SSL" message, even though the the two SSL's in the Preferences were checked.  Somehow, I think I am not really getting totally new copies of Firefox, even though I quit my original Firefox before downloading.  Should I put all the copies of Firefox in the trash and try to download a virgin copy?

I am having trouble using Firefox getting into secure sites.  I keep getting the message that 
 
SSL is not on, but when I go into Firefox Preferences, both SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are  on.  This is a new  problem, within the past week.  I used to be able to get into the secure sites using Firefox.  I tried downloading another copy of Firefox from your site, but it looked and behaved just like the other one.  I can use Safari, but it is not as nice for downloading the class lists and for using the Easy Website, so I would like to have Firefox working again.
