Hi Joe,

Ok, sounds like I should just label my syllabi with MWF or TTh and leave them both available to everyone. 

Do you think the formum idea will work for posting due dates for assignments. That is the other item that is likely to be different. Maybe answers for midterms might also be different, but I can let everyone see them -- good for extra practice with 2 different versions of the exams. Otherwise everything will be the same and grading will be the same for both courses.

I don't suppose there is a way to show different calendar entries for different groups -- that could be another way to show due dates.

This is a weird one.  I always push the idea that metacourses should ONLY be used for courses that are run in EXACTLY the same manner.  If it's just a matter of a unique syllabus "calendar" for dates, then the teacher should avoid any Moodle complexity and use Meredith's easier example #2.  If teacher plans to have differing assignments, then they are going to be in BIG trouble with a single gradebook in the metacourse.

That said, I have 2 alternative suggestions.  Pros and cons to both, but they would work.

#1  Post the specific syllabus in the CHILD course of the correct group.   (Of course, the instructor would have to make the child classes visible, and students would have to enter that "other" Moodle class to see it, but they would see the correct syllabus and absolutely NOT see the other one.)

#2  Create FORUM that is set for separate groups.  Teacher has to be a member of each group.  Teacher has to have forum set for the MWF group and then "post" the syllabus.  Then, teacher has to have the forum set for the TT group and post the other syllabus.  Only students in the correct group would see the correct post/syllabus.

2. Easier method:
Create simple links to each document and let them click on the correct one.
