Joe,

I was going to start putting up the production instance today, but it won't be ready until Monday, most likely.

BTW: did you still want the ongoing maintenance message to be displayed on the main page on teach?  I know you had other things to finish up there; I just wanted to make sure that the message hadn't been left up there accidentally.

I do plan to move this from term to term.  I'm sure hoping, since L# are all the same, that all contributions WILL be remembered and linked to the appropriate people in the new term.  I'll let you know.  I haven't done a successful backup and restore yet, although Meredith said she was able to.  Those backup and restore do NOT include student data.  In this case, of course, I would use a backup that included that data.  I should be able to get to that today.

Are you ready to put the new Winter 2007 in production today?

Any thoughts about what to do with the forum that you guys started for instructors, currently living in Fall 2006?  My feeling is that we should probably move it out of Fall 2006--either put it in Winter 2007 (and so on down), or put it into a static instance of Moodle that doesn't change from term to term.  I'm kind of wondering if maybe putting up a static instance for that kind of thing might be a way to sneak in the administrative instance I've been talking about, but keeping it under the radar--don't designate a function a priori, but set up something where courses can be added ad hoc.  But for a stopgap, I think i should probably be moved--including all user data, I would think--into Winter.  I'm just thinking it would be nice to keep the forum contents so folks could refer back.

Thoughts?
