Hi Joe,

Thanks for your help.

I received your message (from "Moodle Administrator") in Moodle, but not here in GroupWise. I'm not sure why this is, because I *didn't* disable the "email forward" option in Moodle Messages Administration. This is because I want to see if I actually get students' messages here in GroupWise before I decide disable the forward feature.

The only thing I changed in my Moodle Messages Admin was that I removed the "10" in the "minutes" field, because I would like to have my messages forwarded to GroupWise immediately. However, now I am wondering if I shouldn't have removed the "10" and just left the field blank. Maybe I should have written "0" (as in "no minutes") instead?

I'm really sorry to keep pestering you with these questions.

Best,
Jennifer

1. I know that my students will have some questions about Moodle that I cannot personally answer--at least not yet. Is it ok to direct these students to the SHeD?

***Yes, the SHeD is for student help.

2. I would like to be very clear on how the external/internal email works with Moodle. If a student emails me *from* Moodle, and I get that message in my GroupWise inbox, and then I *reply* to the student (without changing the to address), does that student get the email in both her home email and her Moodle inboxes? Or just in her Moodle inbox?

***Do you WANT to be getting messages in your Groupwise account? I thought you decided to disable that email forward while I am offline for 10 minutes checkbox on your Moodle Messages Settings tab. If you turned that off, then you should only email students back from WITHIN Moodle. The most obvious benefit is the Moodle History link which will keep track of ALL of your communications with that student over the course of the term. This would be my recommendation.

To tell you the truth, if you did get messages forwarded to Groupwise and simply clicked reply, I don't know where they'd go. I just sent you a message in Moodle. If it goes to your Groupwise, click reply and see if the TO: address is moodleadmin@lanecc.edu

P.S. I hope all is a-ok with David Walton. (I had emailed him a couple questions last week, and while I think I figured out the answers to most of them, I was a little concerned b/c he is usually so quick to reply.)

***I take it your questions were Banner/enrollment related?
