You are receiving this very important email because you have an account on the teach.lanecc.edu server.  While a remote possibility, if you no longer plan to use this account, reply to sender (do NOT reply to all) and we will remove your account and your email address from this list.
 
I am aware how much faculty dread mass emails (let alone long and very important ones) during the busy time at the end of the term, so I have decided to include a "just the facts" treatment of what is happening over the Winter break. 
 
JUST THE FACTS
 
The teach.lanecc.edu server has experienced a technical difficulty which will require that it will be unavailable on Wednesday, December 13.  This is the week AFTER final exam week and a day AFTER final term grades are due. 
 
Banner/ExpressLane and your "grades" will not be affected.
Groupwise email will not be affected.
Moodle will not be affected.
 
This outage will only affect websites that begin with http://teach.lanecc.edu 
 
When the server returns to service later that day, your passwords for FTP and Easy Website access will have changed.  The passwords will have to be longer and more "secure" than they have been in the past.
 
Those of you who FTP to your accounts will have to use a "secure" FTP program to access your webpages and files.  Supported (and free) programs are listed and available for both Mac and PC at:
 http://teach.lanecc.edu/downloads.htm
