Hi Dan-
Sorry for taking sooooo long in replying. I'm just so darn overwhelmed these days (I know you can relate!). I think the syllabus was the only document in question, so I won't go looking for more work until it becomes a real problem. Besides, the computer services people keep telling me my machine will self-destruct any moment so I'm leery about downloading software or speaking in a loud voice around it. Thanks so much for your kind offer; I may still take you up on it at a later date.
Regards,
Bill.

Hi Bill,

As for giving a consistent presentation of HTML / web documents (like your Syllabus, etc.) across a variety of web browsers, it is important to create the document with a tool that follows Web stardards and does not introduce any proprietary / less standard formatting.

As such, let me know what you use(d) to create your Syllabus ... was it MS Word Originally ... and was added via Copy & Paste? Or another program?

If you are interested in some software tools, I can recommend (and help you with) some programs that are freely available and will generate pages / documents that view consistantly under a variety of web browsers (i.e. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.).

P.S. Your syllabus is a fun one / good sense of humor.

Regards,

-Dan

Hi Dan-
Looks great! Thanks much my friend.
You know, one of the rewards for a job well-done, unfortunately, is often more work. Another question to ponder: Why is it that sometimes a webpage, such as my syllabus, looks fine when accessed through firefox, but is "messed up" when viewed through internet explorer? This is clearly not desirable, since students in the same class will see a different "product" depending upon who they access the class through. Any thoughts?
Regards,
Bill.

Hi Bill,

I went through the links and updated them where appropriate.

What I ended up finding was basically an issue related to the concept of relative vs explicit paths.

Let me give an example.

(I had numbered lines in your email below so that I can make reference to each URL as we discuss.)

(1.) This link was setup as:

http://moodle.lanecc.edu/something/something/www.lanecc.edu/distance

when it should link to:

http://www.lanecc.edu/distance

(3.) pointing to part of the directory that was duplicated, etc.

I tested the links out after updating ... let me know if you need anything else.

Regards,

-Dan

Hi Dan-

Thanks for your prompt reply!

The course is: Principles of economics, Econ 200, CRN 20210.
Open up my Syllabus at the top of the course page. Here's what happens when I hit the following hotlinks:
(1.) www.lanecc.edu/distance NOT FOUND
(2.) http://lmoodle.lanecc.edu WORKS FINE
(3.) my econlab registration instructions NOT FOUND
(4.) myeconlab NOT FOUND
(5.) burrowsb@lanecc.edu NOT FOUND (this is my e-mail address)
(6.) Shed@lanecc.edu NOT FOUND
(7.) http://www.lanecc.edu/distance/details/htm WORKS FINE

Bill.

Hi Bill,

Can you send me the CRN and course name for your course so that I can login and look at one of them.

Also if you can give me an example one to look at, that will be great. For example, if you indicate Week 5, weblink named "Something", etc. I can give you a specific answer.

As for the sever, it is running as normal.

Regards,

-Dan

Hi-
Most of my weblinks through my moodle course aren't working. Is there a server down?
Thanks,
Bill.
