Hello Webmasters:

Thank you for providing such prompt replies and advice that is easy for beginners-- like me-- to understand and follow. Once again I am in need of your assistance.

When the HO 101 class was set up (not by me), the "assignment type" was not set up to be consistent from week to week. I discovered this late last week, prior to being able to make changes for the second week's assignment submissions. I have established that the "online text" option is what I want for the class and have corrected this in my class, however, I am having great challenges with week 2 where the students only had the option of "uploading" their assignments and it is not good.

Problems:
There are at least a minimum of 6 submissions (some scanned documents, Word and possibly another type) where when I go into the page for grading, the highlighted "grade" option on the right is NOT there. I can go to the next page for student submissions and it is present. Why is that? What do I do about this problem? (yes, I do have the editing turned on)

There are some submitted assignments that won't allow me to even open them, only a "save" and "cancel" option. What do I do with these?

I am assuming on the few that open into a blank textbox (with the grading drop down at the top) and the uploaded file that actually allows me to open it, I can then just read the student's submission and grade it...correct?

At this point this (which is confined to the week 2 assignment module) is such a mess I am not sure exactly what to do---being a first time instructor. Any suggestions? I am tempted to give everyone credit for this particular week's assignment and move on, considering I have made the changes to prevent this from happening again. I also don't want to spend days trying to get into student files for where students are responding to two simple questions...this assignment is not like a research paper or weighted term assignment. I welcome your advice.

Thank you as always.
Julie
