Good Afternoon Webmasters:

I have two questions:

First: In the first week's Module, both the Activity block "Assignment" opt=
ion on the left of the page and the weekly Assignment module (middle of the=
page) allowed students to enter the assignment page, "edit my submission",=
enter their assignment into a text box and save. In the second week's Mod=
ule, the Activity block was the same as in week one, but where the modules =
are listed in week two, the assignment option only allowed students to "upl=
oad" assignments, not edit. Why would this have changed from week one to w=
eek two? I don't know what is in the other weekly assignment modules ("upl=
oad" or "edit" or both). What can or should be done about it? Being new =
to teaching, is it good to have both of these options available to students=
or should it be consistently just the "edit" option? I have had several st=
udents confused about this change. I hope this makes sense. I don't always=
know the right technical terms to describe what I am trying to communicate=
. I can try again if this doesn't make sense.

Second: I will be grading in Moodle for the first time on Monday. I want t=
o confirm the process with you to feel more confident. Here is what I beli=
eve I am to do: To start, go to the Activity block and click on Assignment=
s. When the list for the assignments then shows up, click on the highlight=
ed assignments submitted for the week I am grading which is on the right of=
the assignment textbox (can't remember exactly what it says). Then all th=
e students names will show up along with the date/time/assignment and to th=
e far right there is a "grade" in yellow. I click on "grade" and the stude=
nt assignment will show along with a drop down for grading. I would like t=
o respond to some of the students...how and where do I make comments on thi=
s page? Following review and comments I then select the grade to be given =
and hit save. Is this correct or have I missed a step or the whole process=
???

Thank you for your patience and time. It is appreciated.

Julie Bowman
