Yes, I've been there and tried quite a few options. I have not found any
that will give me the count of posts for the last 7 days, by student. I
find many charts and long lists of posts. None I've found are any better
than manually going through every post and counting them. 
 
Posting is used for participation points in many classes. I'm sure there
must be an efficient way to track this activity.
 
I need a report that will give me a count of how many new posts each
student has made in the last 7 days. Alternately, a tally of the total
number of posts, as WebCT provided, will work. Thanks,

Click the REPORTS link in your Admin Block.
