Inflatable barbeques Oreo pizzas Unfair trade logo Polls and Quizzes I liked being able to get the "gimme" points by doing the online quizzes. I think everyone should have gotten all the points, maybe people should try to remember to do those. I am one who probably got hurt by those opinion polls...I think I missed 2/3. I didn't even know they were there. I learned to check moodle EVERYDAY if poss. I did enjoy the polls. Curiosity, I guess. (C student) I did all the computer quizzes and opinion pulls. I thought they were rather easy. (C student) Again, it is just surprising to me how lazy people are. Especially with the quizzes and surveys which, to me, are an extremely easy way to get points. (A student) I found it nice to be able to get the easy points. I am actually shocked to here that some students were too lazy to complete these easy tasks. I especially thought the quizzes were helpful in remembering the crucial information from the chapters! (A student) I think you should leave it how it is right now. If people don't want to take advantage of an easy 10% of their grade, then I say let them fail. You have provided us with an easy way to help our grade. It's up to the students to take advantage of it and stop being lazy. (A student) I thought it was fantastic. I always enjoy receiving 15% of my grade with almost no true effort. (A student) that shows their lack of commitment, and discipline. they deserve the poor grade if they did not do ir. (A student) I don't think all the students believed in the assignment was worth points I missed quizzes myself and I have to say I put it last on my list of things to do when I should have just got them out of the way. The quizzes were an easy 15% but I think I took it for granted. (F student) Book on Tape I didn't use it, although I would have if I knew it was available. (C student) **************************** **************************** **************************** USED Buying the book I feel it would be rather silly to not buy the book and expect to pass the class. I also feel it would be silly to not attend class and not expect it to impact your grade. To me it's a "No-Brainer" to quote my dad. (A student) Any other comments I enjoyed the hybrid class very much but i would have liked to incorporate stuff online more into the classroom they felt pretty seperated I like the idea of it being a hybrid, but I just felt that it was a sepearte class from the one we had at lane. I would have liked to seen more direct connection and intermingling of the 2 worlds. I think I prefer when classes are longer and all in class. When there is also an online component, I either forget or just don't have the time and access to a computer to really do the work. Personally I would have preffered to have all credit hours come from inside the class. I wouldn't mind having to do a little extra homework rather than do the online stuff, but I guess I'm just old fashioned like that. I think putting more of the class online and meeting once a week would have been a little better. This was my first hybrid class and it was great. I think it is a perfect balance as it is now. I would not want less class time. I like this style of learning but had difficulty accessing moodle because of poor reliability with my internet. Sometimes internet and computers are unreliable and this can affect students grades. Aside from that I would encourage you to continue teaching hybrid classes as it is effective in learning and teaches students the importance of doing work online, which has become a big part of our society. (TECHNICAL GLITCHES) Should I have a student forum? Better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. I'm not sure how "useful" it might be, but I think It might be a nice thing to have in case we wanted to take advantage of it. HTD Forums - worth 15% of your grade The percent of the HTD forums shouldn't matter. Sudents should participate solely because it was assigned. I thought the discussions were an excellent idea, and certainly the level of required credit was the necessary motivation for most. The questions were even good enough to provoke further discussion and thought once students considered them. I honestly don't know whether the grade % should be higher, but 15% was very substantial, since with the difficulty of the 2 exams a student would be hard pressed to even get better than a C+ in the class without participating. i wish i would have got off my ass and participated. keep it the way it is.
